Plumbing runs through the slab, which decides whether the sink can move and how much it costs if it does. The original panel and circuit count were sized for a 1965 kitchen, not for a modern range, a dishwasher, a microwave, and a coffee setup on the same wall. Ceilings are eight feet with a soffit built above the uppers, and taking that soffit out is what makes the room feel taller. Some houses still have galvanized supply lines or cast-iron drain stacks behind the sink wall.
